NAVY LAUNCHES TOMAHAWK |

Today the Royal Navy
achieved successful launch of its Tomahawk cruise
missiles on schedule. The first live missiles were
fired from Swiftsure Class submarine, HMS Splendid,
at a test range off the Californian coast. The live
firing signifies completion of an extensive
programme of proving trials to ready the Swiftsure
Class for the introduction of Tomahawk into service.

delivery of the fourth component of the Merlin
Training System to the Merlin University at RNAS
Culdrose.

NAVY PUTS MERLIN MK1 TO THE TEST |

The Royal Navy's
latest Merlin HM Mk1 helicopter, designated RN08,
has been delivered to the MOD
by Prime Contractor,
Lockheed Martin ASIC and their principal
sub-contractor, GKN Westland Helicopters. The Royal
Navy will take delivery of 44 Merlin HM Mk1's by the
year 2001.
