LOCKHEED Martin
achieves Close Air Defence Detachment Engagement Trainer factory
acceptance
11 September 2001
Air defence and missile modelling simulation
and training solution successfully demonstrated
Lockheed Martin United Kingdom Information Systems (NYSE: LMT)
recently completed Factory Acceptance Testing, or FAT, of the
Close Air Defence Detachment Engagement Trainer in line with the
contract schedule. The equipment was previously selected by the
UK Defence Procurement Agency in open competition to provide to
the British Army.
CADDET provides training for two soldiers with a dedicated
training instructor on the high velocity missile (HVM) weapon
system. The CADDET instructional system includes a replicated
HVM weapon system, replicated support equipment and projected
photographic "panning background" with superimposed 3-D targets
as well as displays for simulated binoculars and the gunner's
missile aiming sight. The contract is worth approximately £8GBP
million.
"Lockheed Martin is committed to customer success and this is
yet another demonstration of the advantages our customers have
in working with team Lockheed Martin," said Graham McIntyre,
Lockheed Martin UK Information Systems Managing Director. "Our
established position in the live domain in the simulation
continuum is complimented by this accomplishment."
Combining the key elements of missile modelling including
launch, gather and acquisition control coupled with associated
weight loss, audio and high fidelity visual operator cueing, the
Close Air Defence Detachment Engagement Trainer (CADDET)
provides significant training enhancements over similar
products. Developed in an open architecture, object-orientated
environment, the company is well positioned to offer low risk,
best value for money opportunities in all air defence and
anti-tank virtual missile training solutions that maximises
reuse and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies.
