LOCKHEED MARTIN ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF
STEPHEN BALL TO VICE PRESIDENT AND MANAGING DIRECTOR AT
LOCKHEED MARTIN UK - INSYS

Lockheed Martin today announced Stephen Ball, Managing
Director Lockheed Martin UK – INSYS, has been named Vice
President and Managing Director with immediate effect.
Stephen has been Managing Director of LMUK INSYS since
September 2006 and had previously served as the manager of
the Combat Systems Division.
“This appointment recognises the great strides LMUK INSYS
has made in becoming a significant Mission Area within
Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control division,” said
Ron Abbott, the division's Executive Vice President. “The
business is now equal to the size of Missiles and Fire
Control's US-based Mission Areas and as such needs a
leadership structure that reflects this growth.”
Lockheed Martin UK – INSYS plays a strategic role in the
corporation’s growth strategy. LMUK INSYS has seen
significant growth since becoming part of the corporation.
In 2007 the company quadrupled the previous year’s orders
and had its first £100M+ order in the first quarter of this
year with the Land Environment Air Picture Provision
contract award. The company is also steadily expanding its
staff footprint with up to 90 new hires annually since 2005.
Ball joined INSYS in 2001 as Head of Business Support and
was appointed Operations Director in 2003. Previously,
Stephen served twenty-one years with the Civil Service
working in HM Government Communications Centre (HMGCC) where
he reached the level of Chief Executive Officer. Stephen
holds a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering which he
completed whilst training as a student apprentice within the
Associated Engineering Group. He has also completed modules
with the Open University in Electronics and Communication
Systems and obtained a Diploma in Company Direction from the
Institute of Directors in 2001.
