LOCKHEED MARTIN UK BECOMES PART OF CORPORATION'S GLOBAL VISION ENTERPRISE

HAVANT, UK, November, 2006

Lockheed Martin UK’s Havant facility has become the first location outside the United States to become part of Lockheed Martin’s Global Vision Enterprise – an international link between the company’s development laboratories.

The move will provide significant additional capabilities in the way the company works with customers and partners on programmes such as the Merlin Helicopter.

The Havant site is already acknowledged by the Ministry of Defence as a crucial resource for UK armed forces – particularly in the area of systems integration and helicopter development.

Now, through a link developed in the site’s System Development and Integration Facility (S-DIF), staff can share skills, knowledge, information, best practice and tools and techniques with their colleagues in the US. The link will provide staff with simultaneous access to data, simulations and analytical tools and processes. It will also be crucial to developing the advanced technology solutions required by current and future programmes.

Lockheed Martin UK chief executive, Ian Stopps said: “This link is a real milestone for our development. As a UK company we have unrivalled access to technology and skills thanks to our wider corporation. But now this unique high-speed link connects us direct with our colleagues overseas so we can share information and work together in real-time, combining our capabilities and giving us access to huge resources which we can use to benefit our customers.”

The connection will allow virtual work on helicopter programmes between the S-DIF in Havant, the Centre for Innovation in Virginia, the Rotary Wing Development Centre in Virginia and Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training and Support in Florida.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin employs about 140,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.

Lockheed Martin UK, a unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation, is a leader in systems integration working on major programmes spanning the aerospace, defence and civil sectors. Lockheed Martin works with more than 100 business partners and employs over 1500 people at 15 sites across the UK.
