TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICE PROGRAMME
10 June 2003
London, United Kingdom – June 10,
2003 –Lockheed Martin has announced that it has
been awarded a further contract for the Defence

contract includes scope for Programme
Management, Risk, Business Efficiency, Quality
Assurance, Configuration Management Leadership
and IT services.
As a partner to BT, Lockheed Martin UK Ltd is

on the DFTS programme. The privately financed
initiative, initially awarded in 1997 provides
the UK Ministry of Defence with secure and
survivable telecommunications for the future,

substantial cost savings whilst improving
operational effectiveness. The programme
amalgamates the existing private and secure
communications currently used by the Royal Air
Force, Royal Navy and British Army. The DFTS
programme has provided the MOD
with the
mechanisms to support the migration from the
previous fixed communications networks to a
single automated and integrated system. The
resulting high speed, secure services, complete
with computer-enhanced communication data
services, is markedly more responsive to user
demand and covers the whole of the UK mainland.
Mike Hardgrave, Managing Director of Lockheed
Martin UK Mission Systems said, “We are
delighted to be part of this very successful
team delivering the DFTS programme. DFTS has
provided Lockheed Martin with a further
